It's a tough day for the riders today on the mountainous stage from Longarone to Tre Cime di Lavaredo. Waiting for them are 3 Cat. 1 climbs (Passo Valparola, Passo Giau, Tre Cime di Lavaredo) 2x Cat. 2 climbs (Passo Campolongo, Passo Tre Croci) before finishing the stage at 2,304 metres at the Three Peaks of Lavaredo. In the first 25 minutes of today's stage Veljko Stojnic broke away with Larry Warbasse and managed to build up a 30 second lead. 45 minutes later another 6 riders joined the breakaway group. But Veljko Stojnic was still up there in the leading group. After 64 km, Stojnic won the intermediate spriint at Caprile, the Serbian rider showing his good form at the moment. After 100 km, and nearly three hours in the leading breakaway Stojnic was dropped on the Cat. 2 climb up to Passo Campolongo, and on his own until the chasing peloton caught him a few kilometres later.
