Konrad Irlbacher Sr. founded a specialist sports store in Rosenheim. IKO stands for Irlbacher Konrad†, who established the company in 1972. His spirit of innovation was passed on to his son, also named Konrad, who now serves as Managing Director. Together, they led IKO to the success it enjoys today.
Konrad Irlbacher † began his sports retail business with ski equipment and quickly outpaced the competition with his groundbreaking ideas. He built the first monoski, produced skis with continuous steel edges, and used a screen-printing technique for model labeling that drew so much attention it’s now on display in a museum in Munich.
His hands-on experience as a former racer, combined with ongoing technical exchanges with today’s top athletes, has ensured a level of expert knowledge at IKO that remains unmatched.
